I would use this instead of Photoshop
Well..
My girlfriend is a graphic designer, so I guess PixelMator would be a great chance to force her to leave Windows and go Mac!
Being a student and a part time web designer, I am always on the lookout for tools that make my work flow easier. Pixelmator look like a no fuss app that I can use in leu of a much more bulkier program.
OK… so you want to know how I would use this in my Daily workflow…
As I work, as a student… I get great use for image editors, I have a large amount of pictures to edit and merge, and I always find myself pulling my self back to my ancient copy of Photoshop Elements on my old PC… I’m not saying that it doesn’t work!! To hell, it does!! But it just doesn’t work very well… Some of the filters and effects are worse than those of a $20 progamme that I could buy now… I suppose that it is habbit… I have used it so long… and just can’t be bothered to change something that works!! Whenever I wan’t to use it.. I have to switch back over to my PC… Alright, its not the only app that I need on my PC… but it’s the most usefull and the most used!!
So… for those reasons,
Please consider giving me the liscence!!
Thanks,
Jack
I’d use Pixelmator to touch-up my favorite photos, so that I can print them out nicely…
Right now I use Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac. The UI design is so terrible that it sucks the creativity right out of me. Pixelmator has been on my radar for a while thanks to my friend Sam (twitter.com/purplelime). If I were to receive a license for Pixelmator, it would get me out of Adobe hell.
Love the user-interface, and the way the used all the core services on the Mac, a truly native macintosh application.
It just invites you to use it and almost makes you even more creative.
I would use this for more complex image editing, and hopefully almost get rid of the big hog that is Adobe PS.
Pixelmator is awesome!
I would love to use pixelmator to quickly create and modify mocks for my project. I think pixelmator might offer the right balance between power, simplicity and resource heaviness.
I work with layout design and I’m tired of using GIMP for mac….its so buggy and….sp not-mac…=/
I would really appreciate a tool thats built for mac =)
Pixelmator FTW! \o/
I would make doctored photos of Kevin Rose.
A great alternative to Photoshop (which is costing me alot to update from CS2) will be great!
Hi,
I just started trialing Pixelmator at our public access television station. It’s been great for quickly processing photos and images for conformity to the NTSC standards for our broadcasts. It’s also been terrific for creating more experimental images in use as backgrounds, creating notices for our on-air bulletin board, quick and attractive signs, and more. I’ve found it to be easier to use than Photoshop, quicker, and with a finer, more intuitive interface.
In the short time I’ve tried it, I can see it quickly becoming part of the daily work flow in these and other ways I haven’t even considered yet.
Ditch PS at home with my freelance work and use Pixelmator instead. I was a beta tester and luv’d the app but I already had Photoshop CS3. Bring it!
Well, Being new to photography I bought a Nikon D40X and am looking forward to taking some photos and would love a editing software program to use other than iPhoto. I feel I’m more creative but cannot afford Photoshop. So it would compliment my passion for photography. Thanks Smoking Apples. I love your site!
Maps and art for my role playing hobby mostly.
hi,
I would love to win a pixelmator license; I’m on a mac and there is not so much good free softwares. Thanks very much,
Well, Being new to photography. I bought a Nikon D40X. I would really enjoy a photo editing software other than iPhoto. I feel I am more creative than that. I cannot afford Photoshop so this would be great! Thanks! I love your site!
I would use Pixelmator to edit all of the images on my website. I currently use the Creative Commons images on Flickr because I don’t have the ability to edit photos on my Mac. I can’t afford Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and have long considered Pixelmator as a worthy alternative for the Mac.
I would use this to design my new website i’m currently working on^^
I’m using since version 1.0! I’d give that one to my wife who is a grafic designer too.
If I had PixelMator I’d take over every ‘mator patch in the state of Alabama. I’d pixel away, all the live-long day, whistl’n while I work. All the live-long day. Whistl’n. Work’n. Pixel’n.
Yup, pixel me, makin’ them mators fresh and tasty. All shined up with the best pixelmation.
That’s what I’d do.
I would install this on my wife’s computer so won’t have to use Acorn anymore!
Honestly, I would use Pixelmator to brush up photos of my 4 year old little girl, the Noodle. What better way to use a great piece of software?
I’m using trial version for image/graphic editing for my blog. I’m about to use it to create my business card collection as well.
I’ll let the imagination flow and colors explode, thanks to a great os x compliant software.
I’ve been playing around with the pixelmator trial, and after using it for about 15 days now, I am going to buy the license since it’s an integral part of my workflow. Although it would be great if I could nab that $60 license for free :p
After I’m done with this semester in college, I’ve been inspired by sites such as this, The Apple Blog, The Mac Observer, and TUAW, to open a website of my own focused around various artwork specifically focused at and around the Mac platform. What I’d like to do is go out to scenic locations and snap some photos, bring them back to my MacBook, drag them into Pixelmator, and add to them. I’ve done this once or twice on trial runs, and it’s perfect. I don’t need a separate app to adjust my colors, and it’s pretty easy to go between this and Vector Designer for the artwork I add on top of the pictures I take. It’s simply fun software to work with, and it has a great GUI that just works.
I would use it for my web company for graphics and for my families home DVDs.
I would give this to a friend who has been wanting Pixelmator.
*full disclosure: I already own it.
i would use it to avoid launching photoshop about 90% of the time…
I would use it to make nice pictures with text in it and upload those on one of my favorite sites to win software licenses of course
I would use it to automate some pixels!
I would hopefully be able to remove Photoshop from my daily workflow.
I would use it on some of the 10000 photos I’ve accumulated……
Wanna try it out
I would stop torrenting and pirating apps like this.
I’d definitely use it to supplement my web design and spiff things up a little bit – I have no image editor to make web graphics so it would be awesome to get a copy.
Instead of using Photoshop on old Windows computer at home I would be able to work on images where ever I take my MacBook Pro. I would use it for various projects at school, making images for websites I work on and hopefully to make the interfaces for several programs I want to write this summer.
I would use Pixelmator to help me get through my last 6 months of Uni without having to open up PhotoShop ever again. My 3 year old mac mini really struggles under that beast. Pixelmator would enable me to actually be able to run other apps while working on website designs, including my own, which I plan to launch very soon.
I would replace Photoshop and use it for my new project
I would love to have pixelmator. I’ve been eyeying it ever since I came across it (over a year ago). I don’t own Photoshop, but I’m a student at a vocational high school and would love to be able to use Pixelmator. I know Photoshop is more powerful and industry standard and I’ve become pretty comfortable with it, but I’m just a sucker for beautiful design, and beautiful interfaces. That’s where Pixelmator becomes attractive to me =D
P.S. I enjoy reading your blog a lot, thanks for posting! I follow you on twitter and subscribed to your RSS feed. Love it!
I would use Pixelmator to complete my media assignments for high school. I currently need to do these on a computer running XP and with Photoshop CS1. Pixelmator would allow me to do all of my work on my MacBook – I wouldn’t need to transfer files with a USB flash drive. A responsive, appeaing, and convient image editor would be a lifesaver.
To Josh:
That stinks! you have a beautiful MBP but you have to use XP for Photoshop? That’s really unappealling. Ever since I went to Mac I never went back. Luckily I can use Photoshop at school but when I get home I’ve yet to buy the triple digit priced software giant.
We work with nonprofits all over the world.
We help them start, fund, and run successful nonprofits. In doing so, we help many of them by creating a brand new shiny image and pixelmator would help us do that each and every day and make the world a better place.
I love to create beautiful pictures, But i hate Photoshop !!
I would use this to edit my big pictures generated in my experiments. Pixelmator handle big pictures very well than other image apps.
i would use it to better my graphic abilities as it has alot of the features i’ve really been looking for, but at this time i cannot affor a graphics site like photoshop.
I would use it as Photoshop replacement because of the Adobe Photoshop price here in Austria (take the US price in $, multiply it with 2 and charge that in €).
Photoshop is -in my opinion- like ‘Typo3′: It is a great tool, but it is nearly the same as shooting birds with cannons. So I think PS is simply “too much” for the most projects. And there comes Pixelmator! Nice and clean UI with USEFUL tools with I need.
And it is really, really compatible. That’s a great feature, too.
I will use Pixelmator instead of Photoshop because oft its sweet UI and fine usability. PS is too big for the most of my webdesign tasks.
I would use Pixelmator together with Aperture. Both together would build a strong alliance against Lightroom/Photoshop. TJust love the UI of Pixelmator. It´s the graphics apllication Apple should have done.
P.S.: Thumbs up for your wonderful blog. I threw out 3 other Apple blogs out of my reader after I found yours.
I’m looking for an alternative to Photoshop since I switched to my Mac. I used the demo of Pixelmator and I liked it from the beginning. It has such a nice UI and just looks fancy. If I would win the license I finally could get rid of GIMP
I am a hobby fotographer and we designer, pixelmator would be perfect for my needs.
- creating new designs for web pages
- improve my pictures
pixelmator is one the most beautfull apps i know.
I would use it on my notebook, because I can install my Photoshop CS3 just on my Mac Pro. Thanks for this Adobe.
Pixelmator would be a perfect prasent for a friend of mine!
He is a hoppy fotographer and it would be exactly the perfect for his needs.
It’s very easy to use too.
I once chose Acorn over Pixelmator which turned out to be the wrong choice for me. Never got to like its user interface.
Pixelmator would have been the right choice for me in the first place.
I would use pixelmator for editing my photos instead of using cracked photoshop. Also i would like to try it for drawing.
Hi – I am a part time mature art student and have just been given my first MAC (a laptop) which I totally love – I have used photoshop on my PC but would love to have the licence for Pixelmator which I have been using on trial for a couple of weeks – I would use it for just about all of my artwork on the computer- editing photos and stills from films I’ve made to improving my blog layout. It is so easy to use – the interface is terrific – the pixelmator website is impressive and I am learning lots of new things from their new learning page of tutorials. It has deffinately won me over
Also because I am doing this art degree I am on a very low wage and this would be really helpful support for me
Thanks for this offer and here’s hoping for one of the licences
I design Websites and for a awesome website I need very good images which i will make with Pixelmator
Hello, I’m also on a design school, and I love making webdesigns.
At home I have to use the GIMP, but I try to use photoshop at school.
My Pixelmator demo expired, but it was great to use. it launches so fast and the interface is just so simple while the program has so much functions. I would just love to be able to use it at home for my web designs and possibly some photo editing for school.
I design Websites and for a awesome Website I have to take great images which i will create with Pixelmator
i’d use pixelmatorin my daily workflow as a motion designer.
Photoshop is way too expensive for what i need, and pixelmator would fit perfectly in te budget/features equation.
plus, you gotta support good mac software, right?
A very exciting giveaway! I would use it for 1) Network documentation thru editing screen shots 2) editing photos for personal use
I’m a university professor and I do research on sign languages — American Sign Language, Italian Sign Language, and recently Saudi Sign Language. I would use Pixelmator to design the textbook and journal article images that I need to work up to display in graphic form the movements of signs.
I am a Web Designer and I use Photoshop at work. I plan to do some freelance work on my own but I cannot afford Photoshop. Pixelmator would be ideal for me to start my own website and freelance business. I would use it for all my websites.
I am a Computer Programmer and I seriously would ditch my Photoshop copy if I had a Pixelmator license in hands. I’ve tried the Pixelmator demo and was pitiful when the trial period ended… Cya
I would use pixelmator for editing my photos instead of using photoshop on my old virtual machine running windows -.-
I need this
hi,
I retweeted this almost then times: http://twitter.com/paulrostorp/
I already follow you on twitter and am subscribed to your feed , I enjoy your site.
I would like very much to win this pixelmator license, I would help me very much,
thanks,
best regards,
I have heard so much positive feedback and praise for this amazing image editor that I will definitely give this a try.
hi,
I would love to win a pixelmator license, I’ve retweeted this a few times: http://twitter.com/paulrostorp
thanks,
Me too please! Pixelmator is a great image editor. I’m tired of using Seashore and all that other crap. Pixelmator is what Photoshop should have been. I hope Apple nabs these guys and bundles Pixelmator with Mac OS X. Until then, I’d like that free license!
It’l give me one more reason to switch to a Mac and do my web design in more pleasing environment!
I’m an aspiring photo journalist and I would use Pixelmator in my work flow to replace Photoshop Elements. Pixelmator’s use of the Mac OS’s Core technologies makes it fell more Mac like in it’s approach to photo editing and the program’s design and interface are on par with Apple’s own in house iLife prgrams.
Results are out. Alex wins the license for his comment. And Toby Sommer (@dreamshocker) for the retweet. We’ll be contacting you soon. Thanks for writing in everyone!
Thank you very much
