One of our first reviews on Smoking Apples was about Ripit. We also had Jason Allum on the sets with us, giving some insights on how things work. A whole four months later, the Indy Hall Labs team (yes, the guys behind Multiplex) has released a 1.2 update.

In the email that Jason sent me, he sums it up in a single line,
This update kicks some serious ass.
If that wasn’t descriptive enough for you, here’s the lowdown. They’ve overhauled the internals to produce far fewer errors (they’ve tested over 50,000 discs with 99.99% success rate), produce better ripped images, and you don’t have to worry about the region code issue anymore. This is what I gather from the release notes that they’ve published.
Check out our review of Ripit for more info, and give a look at Multiplex, the awesome virtual DVD manager. Both the apps definitely complement each other. Ripit costs a whole $18.99 for a single user, while Multiplex costs $25 as an introductory offer. Both offer trial versions which I highly recommend.
Oh, and a giveaway!
Along with the one liner, came an offer for five giveaway licenses! Thanks Jason, that was awesome! So…
- Leave a comment, and you could be the lucky winner.
- We’ve reserved two licenses for tweeting about Ripit. You could either link to here, or to the Ripit review. Make sure you include @smokingapples in the tweet so we can track it.
The winners are Matthew Bookspan, renegade, and elheffe for the comments. @t5tr and @drhdylan88 make the cut for the tweets. Thanks everyone for the comments, you will definitely meet the cut for some future giveaway.
