Turns out Snow Leopard really was more than meets the eye. Hidden under a terminal command is a beautifully animated ‘List view’, which is almost like a better ‘Fan’. It’s a little less utilitarian and takes up more space (which is why Apple must have been hesitant to enable it by default), but for those who don’t mind a little space wasted for the betterment of user interface, this is a must try hack.
Fire away Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app):
Enter:
defaults write com.apple.dock use-new-list-stack -bool YES
then
killall Dock
…and your list view should be transformed into the new beauty. To turn off this new list view and go back to the old school view, simply replace YES with NO in the above command, and redo the process.
Hope you like it!
