I switched from Synergy to teleport.

Pros for Synergy
Synergy is cross-platform: unix, windows, os X
Synergy works across subnets
Synergy is open source

Cons for Synergy
Synergy requires effort to re-establish connections. One of my two macs is a laptop. With synergy when I return my laptop, I’d have to re-establish a synergy connection manually on my desktop. With teleport, a connection is established automatically.

Synergy does not offer transferring files and folders by dragging between screens.

Pros for teleport
Commercial but free
Uses Bonjour
Automatically reconnects when one of the Macs is available (e.g. a returning laptop)
Encypted links option

Cons for teleport
Uses Bonjour, does not work across subnets
OS X only
