re: " The unregistered version of SuperDuper can do most of what CCC does and more, except for the scheduled backups which is included in CCC."

... and the incremental backups.

That should be corrected in the article, since it is false as it stands, even though the correct info can be inferred from the previous section. (Especially since someone may find this page looking for info on CCC, and you cannot assume they have read the section on SD.)

Time Machine actually is capable of serving as a bootable backup if you use FireWire connections from your external hard drive to your Mac. I have a 1Tb Buffalo External Hard drive with FireWire 400/800 and I have used it multiple times to boot up my Macbook Pro.

@Steve D, Keith Robertson You're right indeed. For some reason my TM disk just refuses to backup the second partition. Tried it on the MacBook and it worked fine.

As for SuperDuper, I've been using the paid version so I didn't realise that wasn't a feature of the free version. Apologies again, corrected the errors, with due credit.

Some corrections:

TimeMachine can easily be set to backup more than the startup volume, though it doesn't do this by default.

The paid for version of Superduper does Incremental backups which take a fraction of the time the full backups the free version does every time.

Have you actually used these programmes?? :-)

Time Machine does not just back up the startup disk. I have multiple internal hard drives and Time Machine backs them all up.
