Hot corners are possibly one of the most indispensable features of the Mac OS X user interface. To have Expose or your Desktop pop our just by moving your mouse to a screen corner is something I can’t live without. It’s the one thing I miss the most when I’m on Windows.
Here’s a utility that takes the same four screen corners, and adds an extra layer of functionality, offering much more than the default set of actions provided by hot corners. CornerClick allows you to set multiple actions, for pretty much anything you can imagine. You can make it open files, run Applescripts, web urls, and do the stuff hot corners can do. You can also stack these actions one over the other, add different triggers like right-clicks and hovers, and build yourself a swiss army knife.

Interested in what I’ve done? I thought you’d never ask [disclaimer: no one really did]. My top left hot corner is set to turn off screen, but the CornerClick has show ScreenSaver. Bottom left has Dashboard enabled for left click, while right click invokes “Hide other applications”. Bottom right has Expose Desktop on left click, with a bunch of bookmarks I’d like to open up when I wake up, set to the right click. Top Right is set to Expose All Windows, the normal Hot Corners way. It’s a little weird getting used to clicking instead of just swooshing into the corner, but once you get used to it the extra functionality totally makes for the extra click.
Oh, and it’s free, works on Snow Leopard, and I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t use it. CornerClick, go download.
