I found decloner to be an excellent app to find duplicate files. I was very patient in checking all duplicates found because I had a disk drive crash and I was inspecting the recovered files which had lost their filenames against some that had been recovered intact. It was very messy. It did take about twelve hours to find the duplicates in a 1TB drive recovery operation, but if you've ever copied or back up a 1TB you will realize that is not a long period of time when doing low level file operations. If the program was just doing a superficial name comparison check I am sure it could be done much faster. The program is really checking file contents.

So after a day with Decloner i have to say that it’s just a useless app (at least at this point). It took Decloner 14 Hours!!! to scan a 1TB Folder. Result where 50% wrong and the user interface is very “primitive” and time consuming.

In comparison, Tidy Up! scanned the same folder in in less than 3 minutes! Also, you got so many options/ways to search by. Tidy Up! is not perfect, but it’s beyond Decloner.

*You guys should really do a breakdown between - Decloner, File Buddy, Araxis Find Duplicate Files and Tidy Up!

Thanks for the recommendation, was looking for something like this. I've been using baseline for tracking down space hoggers but this will get me those smaller files as well.

'Tidy Up!' is better and Araxis's 'Find Duplicate Files' is the most precise (although it's user interface is horrible).

Anyway, there is no perfect mac duplicates app...so this is a welcome addition. Hopefully the developer will take Decloner to the next level.

thanks.

Btw - Chris, which Theme are you usinc?
