You are missing the point, all these of you shouting use-less to an application they have no idea of.

The point in BluePhoneElite (at least for me) is in the convenience of:

* Seeing who calls me in a nice, relatively unintrusive fashion ON MY PC, I can have the ringer on the phone of and get notified and see who is calling.
* I can accept and decline the calls from my Computer (with or without call routing through my computer.
* I can, If I accept the call, automatically pause video or sound applications, so, whenever I get an call while enjoying a video or listening to music, I do not have to turn down the audio/video manually, after the call, it get’s started automatically again.
* The software can detect my presence from the bluetooth range and activate the screensaver when I am leaving and deactivating it when I am near the PC, again turning off audio and turning it on when I come home, I can create scripts for a lots of stuff being just on BluePhone Elite detecting my presence (or rather, my phones presence).

These are the corefeatures I love about this application, all in a very nice User Interface.

And as a bonus my SMS and other stuff get synced and backed up, and I can send and write sms’s from my computer …

it’s a mac thing, it just works …

(but rather not that good with the iPhone … a paradox

I doubt you'll be able to send SMS messages using BluePhoneElite. However, if backups are your only concern, Phoneview can access all your messages (among other things).

do you know if the iphone OS 4 will support the SMS capabilities? It’s the only reason I have not gotten an iphone and am still on my 2006 SLVR. It’s great to be able to backup SMS’s (I have 10000+ since 2008)

I’ve been a user of BluePhoneElite for my Nokia 95 and 96. Making calls from the PC/laptop is nice, but (correct me if I’m mistaken) I feel the one most important feature is the ability to back-up sms to the computer and being able to send smses from the computer. As for the iPhone, the missing sms function has found me not using the program anymore.
