After what has been one of the most exciting beta tests, LittleSnapper is out for everyone to download! What is it? The new screenshot managing app, tied to it’s web service QuickSnapper, is a brilliantly designed and functional application for the Mac. We’ll be putting the final version through a review, but here’s a brief look at what LittleSnapper can do for you.
Screenshots
Duh! LittleSnapper sits in your menubar and dock, waiting for you to grab anything from your screen. It uses the standard OS X controls for taking a screenshot, including a slightly modified keyboard shortcut. Just snap any part of your screen or the full screen if you like and it will be transferred to your LittleSnapper library.
You can also take a screenshot of the current web page you are viewing in Safari. No longer do you have to worry about stitching web page screenshots together. You can of course enter in a URL and it will grab that for you.
Screenshot manager
OS X has a built in screenshot capabilities. So why would you need LittleSnapper? Well the beauty of this app lies in it’s organising capabilities. The library has a well thought out UI, from where you can organise collections, rename, tag or leave comments on screenshots. You can also drop in any images or screenshots you might otherwise have

The library features some smart capabilities where you can automatically group screenshots based on certain criteria, depending on how well you have tagged your snaps. You can of course search through and rearrange your thumbnails. And of course, all this is done in super cool butter-smooth core animation effects.
Image Editor
You’ve got the screenshot, but there always needs to be some editing done on it. Well, double clicking any of the images puts it in edit mode. Here you can crop, add text, as well as add markup like circles, arrows and paths. There is even a blur tool, handy for blurring out those personal details.
Image Host
If every time you need to send across an image you need to go to something as windowsy as Imageshack, then you will be glad to know that LittleSnapper comes with it’s own stunning QuickSnapper service. Just one click upload, and you can then copy the URL right from the app. QuickSnapper features a well designed layout, the url to which you can share with anyone. Here’s one I just uploaded.
Of course, if you want to host images on your own server, you can enter your server details and before you know it you will be uploading your images direct to the web. You can even upload it directly to flickr!
All in all, LittleSnapper is a terrific app, but it comes at a price. At $40, many will find the price a little too steep, considering that Plasq’s Skitch is currently available for free. Of course, I cannot be deciding whether LittleSnapper is a better app or not, as we’ve given the final version a thorough look. Download the free trial and check it out for yourself. I highly recommend you do.

I’ve been using it the past few days. I was really liking it over Skitch, and was ready to pay for it once it was fully released, but $40 is way too much for something like this. I’d gladly pay $20. For now it looks like I’ll be sticking to Skitch.
I absolutely love this app! It’s right up there with Skitch for me but $40 bucks maybe not.
Looks great guys! Slick UI and great features. For 20 bucks i’d pick it up right now but for 40 I think I’ll stick to skitch. Of course, who knows when Skitch goes out of beta and we’ll have to pay for that as well. Till then Skitch is free and almost as feature rich. And Paparazzi is always there for snapping web pages.
Great app, excellent UI, but they f***cked it up with the price. $40 is way too much for this app considering that there are free apps that do the same thing. $25 would have been a better price for this.
