CleanMyMac Cleans up own UI: Sexy!

by Milind Alvares on July 4, 2009

A while ago I reviewed CleanMyMac from MacPaw, and one of my complaints was that the user interface was a poor slapping on of controls. I launched the app today to do a routine cleanup, and found a rather big v1.5 update in the sparkle updater. Boy was I pleased to see that the team has cleaned up the UI so much that it’s actually something to look at! Okay I might be a little late to the party since the update landed mid-June, but I owed it to myself.

Everything from the stupid ‘yellow flower home screen’, to the controls, and even the scrollbar. Their designer—I believe he’s the same guy—has obviously taken pains to make CleanMyMac shine.

The app is reported to have fixed a lot of bugs, while keeping the core functionality the same. Another big change, is the pricing, which is much more sane now with $15 for a 6 month license and $30 for a life time license. I’m not sure if there’s an upgrade path should you decide to go full time midway; I sure hope there is. Any of you using CleanMyMac?

For their sake, I really hope they fixed a lot of the bugs, because when I used it a few months ago it caused all sorts of issues on my machine. Kind of hesitant to try it out now even though you say it’s better.

Have you checked the new 1.5.2 version? all the reported bugs that we had a couple of months ago are fixed. We have periodical updates, were we fix those kind of problems. Feel free to download the app anytime.
