So we thought we already have a Flickr account, why not use it to showcase some of your talent. Starting this week, we’ll be having a desktop of the week. Every week, we will pick out the winner and feature it in a post.
We’ll be having random giveaways of App Store apps, Mac apps, and more. To start the pool we’re giving away a $10 iTunes gift card to the best desktop uploaded to our Flickr pool. We don’t think of this feature in terms of the prizes, as we’re more interested in finding new icons, wallpapers and what have you.
Head over to MacThemes.net, DeviantArt, Dockulicious or Flickr itself, and get yourself the best of icons, wallpapers and docks. Fire up Command+Shift+3, Skitch, Littlesnapper or whatever else you use to take screenshots, and uploaded it to our pool at Flickr. The rules are simple:
- Upload your photos to the SA Desktop Pool
- Give credit where credit is due. If you know who created your wallpaper or icons, include it in the image description. If you don’t know or remember, that’s OK, just don’t say it’s yours.
- Keep it clean. We are family friend, and the desktop pool needs to be too.
- No Windows desktops.

“No Windows desktops”? Should I assume that all non-Windows desktops are allowed then, whether they be OS X‘s or any of the Linux distributions or any other OS in the whole wide world? :p
(And please have that “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” thing disabled by default. For a site with as stringent a “no spam” policy as Smoking Apples, that is a surprising omission.)
I tried to get my head around getting the notify thing unchecked by default, but didn’t manage to figure it out. Will make attempt number 2 since the noisiest reader is making the most amount of noise…
