In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve got a bunch of new sponsors, all of which have been hand picked by Avner our amazing PR guy. And I’d like to shed a few words on them. These are not reviews, but I won’t go as low as to say things I don’t mean.
NotifyMe
I didn’t know about this app until I saw it one day smiling at me in the sidebar. NotifyMe is a way to keep track of things you need to remember, without having to organise them in projects, and tags and all that. Just enter the tasks, and you get a simple, not to mention beautiful, list of what you need to do. The most important aspect: your notifications are pushed to your iPhone so you’ll never miss a date. You can also access your tasks (as well as add new ones) using the web interface. Ankur is reviewing this app as we speak, and will let you know how this app performs against his tests—don’t imagine there should be any problems.
Studiometry
If you have a business which involves a lot of clients, projects, notes, and need to keep all that organised, Studiometry is the key. Studiometry allows you to add clients to your database, and tack on projects to those clients. From here on there’s a zillion things you can do with Studiometry including tracking time, invoicing, adding notes, and basically managing your entire business from one application. Again, we’re testing this one and so far things are looking great. There’s a 30-day free trial of the app, following which the app costs $299 for a single user license, with scope for multi-user packs.
Renamer
Actually that spot belongs to Dare to be Creative, so I’ll better talk about the company as a whole. A rather new company, Dare to be Creative has got a bunch of different utilities like Renamer for batch renaming files, iArchiver for managing archives (which incidentally got the best archiver award given by yours truly), and so on. All the apps are priced decently, so if you’re looking for some good utilities, check out their site.
Camtasia
I’ve talked about Camtasia before in a full fledged review. Won me over and I’ve been using it since. A professional screencasting application, that will take you right from recording your Mac’s screen, editing it, adding effects, to exporting it to your disk or directly up to YouTube. Camtasia Mac costs $99, and is well worth it. Of course, always, download the trial to see if it makes sense for you.
Pixelmator
Of course, you already know Pixelmator. If you’re looking for a simple, beautiful, easy to use, affordable, completely “Mac-like” image editing experience on the Mac, Pixelmator is it. Now up at version 1.5, Pixelmator can even optimise files for web exporting, has a cleaner user interface, and is Snow Leopard compatible. If you’re wondering what’s capable with Pixie, check out the Learn website which features tutorials from top graphic designers. If you want a 20% discount, use the code SMOKINGAPPLES at checkout.
Daylight
Another app in the review, Daylight is a collaborative tool for small businesses. Kind of like “GTD for your entire company”. With an iPhone application to boot, Daylight and Daylight Touch will keep your business connected, focussed, and… just watch the video they’ve done to see what I mean. The Daylight ecosystem is still under review; publish soon.
Most of all, thanks for reading Smoking Apples. Our readers come first. If you have anything to say, any complaints, suggestions, don’t hesitate to hit us up at the email address mentioned over to the side. Thanks.
