Minutes after the new notebooks were introduced, the rumour mill was spinning again. There was talk of updates for iMacs and Mac Minis being released in November, either on the 10th or the 17th. This release would mean that the Macworld Expo would get the abominable Mac Pro and probably a mystery new product (iTablet anyone?).
Looks like Apple didn’t want to disappoint people at the last minute, so they today told Macworld that they won’t be releasing any new Macs in 2008. “Our holiday line-up is set,” Apple spokesman Bill Evans told Macworld.
So what is the holiday line-up then? First, the spanking new iPods which include the iPod nano and the iPod Touch 2G, are definitely going to get in a lot of cash. The all powerful iPhone 3G, which may have cut down production by 40%, but will continue to sell like crazy.
Next we have the new notebooks and the 24” LED display, the shiny glass of which would look perfect next to a Christmas tree. The iMac however has been updated last only in April this year, but the design of which is fresh. The Mac Pro got a speed bump a week before Macworld last year, and the Mac mini, in August last year.
It is still undecided whether Apple is planning on canning the Mac mini, but my feeling is that we’re going to see a brand-new redesigned Mac mini or its replacement at the Macworld Expo 2009.
