[tweetmeme] We all knew this was coming. Granted it doesn’t come in with as much fanfare as MacHeist, but the MacUpdate holiday bundle is something to look forward to. As usual, they’ve got a good selection of apps, for a very good price.
The bundle includes some known faces, including Path Finder, the powerful Finder alternative with dual panes, tabs, and a whole lot more. There’s also Speed Download, arguably the most feature rich download manager on the Mac. If you find Safari isn’t capable enough for downloading large files, or you use download services like Rapidshare, Speed Download is an indespensible tool. Moreover, SD comes with an FTP manager including WebDAV access so you can do quick transfers to your iDisk. At $25, a great addition to the bundle. Socialite, newly acquired by Realmac software, Socialite encompasses all of the popular social networks into one window. Follow Twitter, update your facebook status, upload pics to Flickr, check your RSS feeds, Digg. And it’s pretty stable since Realmac took over.
There’s also some assorted utilities like iRip :Copy songs from your iPod to Mac”, DragThing, a visual app and file launcher (I’m not too fond of this one). GarageSale, allows you to monitor eBay auctions. Yep, for tagging files instead of dumping them in folders. PCalc, a scientific calculator (I wouldn’t know what to do with). RadioGaga, internet radio. And HealthNut, calorie counter I haven’t heard of.
It’s definitely not the ‘must have’ bundle that MacHeist was earlier this year, but if you’re interested in Path Finder, Speed Download and Socialite, the rest of the apps make it worth it. Moreover, the first 10,000 buyers get some so-so apps as well. Check it out.
