Apple is acting very strangely these days. It’s almost as if their management has changed right up to the top. I mean, first, we have the insanely accurate product leaks, and now the good folks at Apple themselves are informing you of impending updates! Well it’s not as bad as it sounds. iTunes 8.1 is required by the new iPod Shuffle, so they had to spill the beans.

The new update is focussed on performance improvements, especially that of large libraries, syncing devices, and browsing the iTunes Store. Thank you Apple, that’s so kind of you! In addition to that, the Genius sidebar will now feature recommendations for Movies and TV shows, in addition to music. Another minor change noted by our Twitter follower @anomick is that the Party Shuffle is now replaced by iTunes DJ. Probably won’t be anything more than a name change though.
