I so saw this coming. And I’m pretty sure everyone else knew this was going to happen as well. After conquoring Flickr as being the most popular camera YouTube announced that since the 19th of June, the day the 3GS was released, they’ve seen a 400% a day increase in mobile video uploads.
In the last six months, we’ve seen uploads from mobile phones to YouTube jump 1700%; just since last Friday, when the iPhone 3GS came out, uploads increased by 400% a day. - YouTube Blog
It was only inevitable that the iPhone was going to conquor YouTube. It happened to Flickr, as the iPhone is the top cameraphone on YouTube (fourth among all digital cameras). The iPhone is also the ruling champ in the mobile twitter space, and I’m sure a whole lot of other services no one has counted yet (mobile flashlights anyone?)
YouTube attributes it to a three-fold change in the way YouTube works, sharing features, and new video enabled phones, but we all know that it’s the brilliant video quality of the 3GS, coupled with on device editing and uploading features that really make mobile video publishing an easy and pleasurable task. No amount of improvements to an S60 based Nokia phone is going to make video uploading a clear success as it is on the iPhone.
Hows your 3GS doing?
