Introducing Homescreen.me

It’s finally ready! It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you, the third site in our catalogue — Homescreen.me. HS.me, as we call it here, is a beautiful little web app to give a home to your iOS device homescreens.

For a while now, we’ve been seeing people sharing their homescreens on twitter and many other places. And ever since iOS devices officially supported wallpapers, every iPhone and iPad became as unique as its owner. Not to forget the beautiful themes and icons the jailbreak community has been pushing out all along. Of course, there was Firstand20, which we love and respect, but there was nothing the general user could turn to except for the image sharing sites. So instead of having these homescreens loosely hanging around on generic image hosting sites, we figured they deserve a home of their own. Conceptualised by Preshit, designed by the very talented Benjamin George, and coded by the masterful Tinu Cleatus, Homescreen.me will hopefully be loved by you as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Instead of talking about it further (it really is more about seeing), I invite you to check out a few profiles, and (since we’re in beta stages at the moment) leave your email address to be considered for an early access invite.

UPDATE: We need a term for when SA crashes a site. Because homescreen.me sure did crash under the load, and is a little flaky. We’re looking into it and hope to have it up soon. Sorry!

UPDATE 2: We’re back. Also, the term for when SA crashes a site has been unanimously agreed upon to be ‘smoked’.

if you’re going to call it hs.me you should probably just secure that domain and have it redirect there. Otherwise people who don’t remember this post will always just wonder what hs.me is and means.

So just call it by it’s full name…. ((you can even get a text expander for mac that will automatically change hs.me to homescreen.me, and make it easier on everyone))

I expected nothing less from the iXyr Media crew…

Great job, once again!

How can you say it’s ready when page won’t even load? It’s ready when it is open to the public.

Since it’s in (closed) beta, you are not quite ready, no?

This is a really nice idea, I’m sure it will be a success. I’ll be really pleased to be a part of it from start.

Wow, I’ve been waiting for a website that would allow me to share my iPhone’s and iPad’s homescreens for a long time. Also it’s actually very interesting to look through others’ screenshots. So I’m happy you guys finally brought this brilliant idea to life. Thanks! ;)

Just applied for an invite. Hope to receive one soon. :)

You need a term for sites getting crashed due to SA? Isn’t “smoked” kind of obvious? E.g. “The site got Smoked”.

Looks excellent, nothing less that what I’d expect from you guys. Just one thing: will the iPhone frame also include the iPhone 4? Because of Preshit’s profile, I’m pretty sure that’s a 3G/3GS.

Milind Alvares

Yes indeed, you can select an iPhone 4. We intend on adding more specific devices in a later update. And thanks!

Great idea guys, though I’m a little unclear: are you going to allow jailbreak screens or not? Even though I don’t jailbreak, I hope you allow them. They’re still mighty interesting.

Milind Alvares

Of course. If you look closely, the iPhone screenshot on the homepage itself is of a jailbroken iPhone.

Can’t wait to use this, been looking for something like this for a while.
