Last month Google announced Google Voice preview, which allowed you to manage your telephony with just one number. You could instantly route calls, check call records on the internet, receive SMS messages on all your devices, and basically keep you service, number, and phone independent. This paints a rosy picture of the future, if only to the US.
Today 9to5Mac reported on a new iPhone app preview, GV Mobile, the first native iPhone app to access Google Voice. You can make calls to any of your contacts, access message history, Voice Mail, as well as send SMS. The settings allow you a whole lot of control of the service. I’m not sure how, but the video says that iPod Touch users will also be able to make calls.
The app is not made by Google, but by Sean Kovacs You can tell by the fact that some of the features are missing, or that you can only receive SMSes on your iPhone SMS app. Google or not though, the app sure is cool for Google Voice users. There’s a free version, and a premium version which will sell at $2.99. The app is waiting for approval at the App Store.
