You remember that awesome feature Schiller demoed at WWDC last year? Try and think about and the faint memory will come rushing back to you. With a single click, you could email any file from your iDisk folder along with some nice options like limiting the number of downloads or days.

What if I told you that feature is now live and active! Indeed if you check your iDisk page now, you get the Share File button for every file. You can set the number of days it stays active (the limitation on downloads however is not present). You can also password protect the file. iDisk will then put a radio icon next to the file to show that it is shared. You can manage your shared files by clicking the Shared tab in the sidebar. Change the options or stop sharing it. The receiving end of course gets a styled email with a download link. Note that you aren’t required to enter an email address, as all you need is that link at the top. Share it, and hook it up to twitter for all your tweeps to download.
This feature suddenly makes iDisk 10 times more useful. There have been so many occasions where I have wanted to share a file with someone, but hesitated putting it in my public folder. I can’t contain my excitement.
Thanks to Benjamin for the tip-off!

Why does this information NEVER come from Apple. What about all of the people who don’t read this sites for information like this????
Great feature, at last, would be more useful to have available from the desktop iDisk feature as well as online.
If you have a Tmobile G1, check out a great new program called Discover.
This program lets you access your Mobileme Idisk direct from the Tmobile G1 just be logging on to the MobileMe Service within the program!
Also you can set up and connect to a WEBDAV service from this program.
You can get Discover in the Android Market.
@Kevin: Actually, if you follow the MobileMe blog (click on News in the top right of the web apps) the team does mention when they have implemented changes. But thanks for reading it from our blog anyway (it’s all you need really!)
@Andy: There are several such apps for the iPhone, but glad to know that the Android marketplace also has support for these apps.
Dammit Apple—finally. Thank God, it’s a good day!
Right now this is a web site only feature. Hopefully desktop integration comes real soon. It seems to work great so far. With this I may have to drop a few of the free services I have been using, since they all have smaller holding sizes as well.
Also you can find a video on it here: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/tutorials/#idisk-share
Doesn’t seem the e-mail address automatically synchs from the clouds Contact list. Anyone else noticing this?
In my case they auto-completed just fine. Maybe it’s just because MobileMe is sometimes unreliable?
But putting something on iDisk larger then 1mb takes forever. It seams like the iDisk server is connected to a 56k modem at apple ;o)
Desktop integration with Snow Leopard?
