The clever, or just plain snoopy, “greenmymac” on MacRumors Forum has found a way into the iPhone bypassing the passcode lock that is supposed to secure it. One can then have generous access to contacts, SMS, Email, Maps, and the Safari web browser, all without knowing even a digit of the passcode.
The trick is to hit the emergency call button, which shows up while entering the passcode, and then tapping on the home button twice in quick succession. By default, this loads up the iPhone favourites. Pressing the blue arrow takes you to the complete details of the contacts. Tapping either of the options—like, for instance, a URL—launches the respective application. This flaw has been reported in iPhone software 2.0.2 and confirmed in 2.0.1 as well. Funny thing is Apple had indeed fixed this same issue back in Jan with the 1.1 update.

While most people will not know about this little trick, as a precautionary measure, it would be wise to change the double-click option in the Settings > General > Home Button to either Home or iPod. Apple is said to be looking into this matter and should provide a fix with the 2.1 update.
