Yes, the movie was bad, bad and bad. But i did laugh at many scenes … i did enjoying watching it. Can’t help it. But please no more of it. Just as always, movies according to a book are not the book. You can’t beat the feeling of reading the book and keep reading it till you fall over en continue reading when you wake-up again. Curtains closed.

I certainly wont argue against the fact that the film was truely terrible, but even so I personally quite liked it (the same way that people like Twighlight, despite it being so crap).
They could certainlyhave tried a lot harder to stay true to the books, but I do sympathise with the production team in that the complete insanity and genious of Douglas Adams’s work must be hard to replicate with a 90 minute, low budget film.
I will be reading the new book, but will never see it as a part of the series, and will most likely burn it when I am done with it.

I’m not gunna lie, I liked the movie. I read the book and they are obviously better, but u really enjoyed the movie as well. I feel that people too often expect the movie to be just as full and long and complete as thr book, but you didn’t read the book in 2 hours, and they can’t tell that story in 2 hours in the movie. It’s clearly not going to be as good, but that doesn’t mean it’s terrible. Right?

The movie was an abomination. It took such a lovely work of good quality humor and turned it into “slapstick”. The humor that makes the books so fabulous for me, was completely missing. I truly believe that if Douglas Adams had seen the film, he would have thought “What the bloody hell was that? Not my work certainly?”.

No – I wont be reading the book either.

Yes, I am sure that we all have different images of the book and its humor. I am a snob, I freely admit that. The work of Douglas Adams, is just that, it cannot be duplicated. To enter into his true mindset would have been a scary and wondrous thing. I think it is ridiculous for anyone to try….

@Dave: Glad you liked it. And that something good came out of reading part of this atrocity.

@Harris: I had a hard time with the movie (aside from Marvin). I’m particularly sorry to say that in the course of writing this review I found out that the slappers were actually Adams’ idea. That was a little disappointing.

@Jon: Your last paragraph pretty much sums up my feeling in a nutshell.

@Paul: Hey now, no disparaging other Guide fans. I’m willing to bet we all have different images of H2G2 in our heads. That said, Colfer’s an utter heretic.
