As a midpoint between a blog and micro-blog, Tumblr is a concept that’s slowly catching on. I personally don’t manage a ”tumblog”, but I know many who do. The concept of having a no hassles, no formatting, automatic blog is appealing.
The iPhone marketplace has so far seen 3 apps worth mentioning: The Tumblr, Tumble, and Tumblrette. According to The Apple blog, Tumblrette is the best option at $1.99. You’ll be happy to know, that the official Tumblr app [iTunes link] is almost an exact clone of Tumblrette. In fact, many suggest that it is the same app that Tumblr has bought over.

As of right now both apps are available on the App Store, but the one that matters is completely free. I gave the app a whirl, and I can say that they have got it just right. You can post text, photos, quotes, links or even record audio clips. The UI is slick and posting is simple and seamlessly integrates with your Tumblr account. You can then set tags, as well as privacy options by tapping into the advanced post options. The built in browser allows you to switch between your dashboard and your tumblog.
If you have a Tumblr account, this is an app [iTunes link] you need to have on your iPhone. If you don’t have a Tumblr account, this is a good incentive for you to start one.
