If you’re still contemplating on which dictionary app to go for, contemplate no more! Dictionary.com has introduced a brand new application, complete with 275,000 definitions and 80,000 synonyms, in a clean UI, all for the price of FREE!
The 35MB app took a while to download on my slow internet connection, but it was worth the bandwidth. I have used the WordBook dictionary app all along, and while it served me well, I would find a word or two that wasn’t included in its catalog. I wouldn’t say Dictionary.com is a better app than WordBook, but it’s price does put it high up on the list of recommendations. By the look of it, it supports more definitions so you will rarely find yourself hitting up Google for some word it did not recognise.

Dictionary.com also features the Word of the Day, Audio Preview and similarly spelled words feature, which are all drawn live over the internet. For the regular dictionary feature of course you don’t require any internet connection.
They somehow managed to ruin the experience though. For one, there’s the totally unnecessary landscape mode. Totally kills it when you’re searching for definitions while lying down. And second, is the annoying “Free Email Word of the Day” banner that keeps popping up every so often. Doesn’t go away even after you sign up for it. Nothing in this world comes for free I guess.
Overall it’s a good dictionary, and well worth your time. iTunes download link. They’ve even done a nice commercial for it if you have some time to kill…

Oh this is great app. Dictionary widget comes handy to me every day, now imagine dictionary in pocket.
Maybe I’m just lazy enough to be annoyed at having to manually search the App Store for this, but would it kill you to include a link?
@Khad: Certainly not. Apologies for leaving it out the first time.
