Everyone wants a LED ticker when they are growing up (at least I know I did). Now you can have one that fits in your pocket. Called LEDit, it acts as a miniature LED scrolling ticker, letting you say anything. You could be at a loud club trying to signal something at the waiter, or tell the car you just overtook that their tire is flat. There are other uses that are best kept off this blog.
Setting up your perfect message
After you load the app, you are greeted with the settings view like the screenshot on the right. It’s very extremely to use. Input your text at the top, select your color. While selecting the color, a box pops up right above your thumb, much like the keyboard, so you can better see what color you are picking. Scroll speed goes from slow to fast. I had no problem reading it at any speed, but at faster speeds, it is easier to read the further from the iPhone you are. Once you have your text all set, just click display, and it will start scrolling across your iPhone.
When the text is done scrolling you can have it repeat, endlessly, until you stop it and also vibrate your iPhone, so that you know it is finished. If you have an iPod Touch, it will beep instead of vibrate.

Message heard?
While LEDit is a very nice app, it still needs a little work. Letter spacing has some issues as you can see in the screenshot above. Some letters have one space around them, others have up to three spaces around them. One feature that I’d like to see added is the ability to save phrases. Being able to select from 5-10 frequently used phrases could come in very handy. Perhaps even some presets to get you started. LEDit is available now for $0.99 at the iTunes Store. Useful? Sometimes. Cool? Completely!
