If the advertisement in today’s The Hindu and the iPhone’s upcoming launch in India are any indication, the days of Apple’s ignoring us might finally be coming to a close. The following are two promotional offers run by Apple in The Hindu today.
Exchange your old PC and get Rs. 6,000 off on a MacBook or iMac purchase
Unhappy with your PC?
Here’s a reason to smile.Tired of all the hanging, frequent crashes and, not to forget, the never-ending virus attacks? Simply exchange your PC or laptop in any condition for an Apple MacBook or an Apple iMac and get Rs 6,000/- off. And take home peace of mind.
Runs OS X, Windows XP and Vista. Runs Microsoft Office 2008. Seamlessly exchanges files with PCs. Virtually Virus free. Includes iLife, to enhance your digital Lifestyle.
The offer ends on the 28th of June this year.

Note that they’re focusing on the shortcomings of Windows rather than drumming up the advantages of a Mac. “Runs OS X, XP and Vista?” Wouldn’t it sound more compelling if it advertised that it ran OS X, Windows and Linux? “Runs Microsoft Office 2008?” Don’t they sell iWork, their own office suite? Why would anyone want to buy a Mac only to run Windows or Microsoft Office?
They have another advertisement for the iPod nano as well. Until 30 June 2008, all customers will get a free Levi’s gift voucher worth Rs. 1,500 with every purchase of an iPod nano (on both the 4GB and 8GB variants). This seems to be a good deal to me. An excuse to buy that iPod you’ve always wanted—and a pair of denims to carry it in (not that you don’t have any right now, but you get the drift).

Is this offer available on all apple stores in india?
I don’t think so (not 100% sure). You need to buy in Apple Stores.
There are no Apple Stores in India.
There are Apple Authorised Premium Resellers (Reliance iStores and Imagine stores) and Apple Authorised Resellers though and the offer is valid at all such outlets across the country.
Now with June 08 over – the exchange scheme is over. There is something more interesting now !!! If you happen to be a senior college student or faculty or staff of many listed colleges or universities in India as approved by Apple then you get straight 12% off (on street price – not MRP) on your purchase of new macbook/macbook pro from any of APR stores in India.
Nooooooo! I was looking to buy a MAC and found this site. today. now the offer is over na? Can you check and see?
Rohan,
Which city are you from? If you know any of the dealers, you can probably get the 12% discount for the next three days too.
Actually Mr Aayush I have seen your other story and meant to post comment on that. By mistake I posted on this. I went to the apple store today. They said wait because new macbooks might be coming soon. And I cannot get the student discount because I need to get cash which will take me more days and the scheme ends today. I will wait till October for the new macbooks.
Thank you for the information. I will be reading your site regularly!
Hey people, Apples back with the much awaited student offers. This time the discounts are valid on all Apple computers. Although I could not get information regarding the discount size, it seems like its pretty reasonable and even applicable for teachers and faculties. I was initially sad that there was no discounts on the macbooks … now they say that its back… for all models!!!
