No, Ramesh, that calculation is wrong. You haven’t added the hefty sales tax of 8.5% into the mix, just like all the other posters in this thread.

That said, the Indian prices are still much higher than those in the USA, even after taking the sales tax into account. Also, if you buy it from Amazon in the USA, you don’t have to pay the tax either (but you’re not eligible for any educational discounts).

BTW, Apple offers education discounts in India as well.
