The 15″ 2.5GHz MacBook Pros that were selling for $2499 two days back are now available for at a staggering price of $1,644.00 at Amazon. That is a straight off $855 drop from the earlier price. Who says Apple didn’t drop the prices?
Here’s what the old MBPs sell at on Amazon.
15″ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro – $1,444 ($1594 before rebate)
15″ 2.5GHz MacBook Pro – $1,644 ($1794 before rebate)
Note that the price you pay upfront is $150 more than what is listed above. Amazon will later offer the $150 as an online or mail-in rebate.
The new MacBook Pros will cost a fortune if you buy in India, and the old ones still have amazing value. If you have any relatives in the US, order them now before the stocks run out.

Thats gr8..but ashwin, Amazon doesn ship to India, well unless we got the so called relatives in d states.

I think that’s why it is mentioned, ‘If you have relatives in the US”.
As for who would want to buy one, well, for one those who want to save 800 bucks, and have the option of a matte screen, etc. The old MacBook Pro still is a slick machine and speedy one at that.

There is no reason why 1 should invest in the old ones. If you’re actually wasting cash, might as well waste it on what’s new.

These are Old generation and not old laptop. I would prefer the new one myself ($200 rebate + free iPod Touch & printer) but the $1,444 does seem tempting.
