Apple introduces new Cinema Display with built-in iSight

by Milind Alvares on October 15, 2008

To go with the new line of notebooks, Apple introduced a new 24” Cinema Display, built along the lines of the iMac. The glass frontier along with the black and silver colour combo look stunning next to either of the two notebooks. The new 24” LED Cinema Display is a gorgeous work of art.

Featuring an built in iSight camera (finally!), the display connects to the MacBook via a mini DisplayPort. Mini DisplayPort is a new port which can delivery digital video over a small port. Of course, the display can be used with any of the other Macs or PCs using one of the converter cables. The display is also a glossy glass display, featuring an LED backlit.

The new display can also charge the MacBook or Pro using the integrated MagSafe connector! The integrated speakers and microphone also add to the features list. This results in three ports integrated into just one cable.

The older generation diplays however still exist, and for good reason. Professionals would prefer having a matte finish instead of the glossy look of the new model. The new display would also look out of place with the all aluminium Mac Pro! Whether or not they are still updated in some measure is something we would have to wait and see.

The new 24” LED Cinema Display will retail for $899, and will be available later in the month.

Isn’t that pretty much the new iMac? I mean, it is pretty much iPhone » iMac » MacBook/Pro/Cinema Display.

I am wondering though. What could Apple possibly introduce at MacWorld? Everything is updated!

Nope…the iMacs arent updated. They too shall feature this dual GPU combo, ddr3 ram and the likes. Also in the offing maybe a black keyboard and a black mouse!

iMacs have been spec updated back in April. A keyboard changing to black keys is highly unlikely, though possible. The mouse, yes, needs to be updated. Along with the remote, those two white plastic things look really out of place. Dual GPU? I dont’ think so. The only reason the 9400M is there is to save power.

Spec updates like faster processors, graphics and DDR3 come and go. What we get excited is something new we can see and feel. And Macworld is all about that.

black keyboard: why not! entirely possible and will look slick.

Black mouse: will look killer.

LED backlit dsplay..forgot that. But does the iMac alrdy have it?? DDR3 and graphics will be regular add ons. It will be interersting to see Apple switching back to nVidia for the imacs.

Macworld 09..dunno about any new macs( i guess the other Cinema displays may get upgraded to LED n stuff). It will be about the chart ahead for 09. maybe Snow leopard ya something.

will be interesting.
