Apple in discussions with Microsoft to make Bing default search engine on iPhone →
According to this report on BusinessWeek:
The talks have been under way for weeks, say the people, who asked not to be named because the details have not been made public.
No matter what the underlying reasons are, would this be such a bad thing for the end user? First of all, no matter what it’s definitely going to be optional, just as you can currently choose between Google (default) and Yahoo search engines. Having Bing there would only bring down Google’s dominance over the search engine market. The only problem is, as Patrick Patience notes, their mobile site sucks as of right now. Which is probably what Apple is discussing with Microsoft right now, “Make your mobile site suck less”.
But what if Apple worked with Microsoft to make a really good search experience on the iPhone. Would you still switch to Google? Does the idea of having Bing, a Microsoft product, be default on the iPhone, make you want to throw things at someone?

Honestly, I’m a bit of a Google fanboy, so the chances of me opting to use Bing over Google are pretty slim. However, I do like the idea of having Apple and Microsoft working together on some things, who knows what they’ll come together for next.
i would rather poke mud crabs up my butt with a burning stick than use a microsoft product on my iphone / mac
